Why we should study Religion
Ep. 77

Why we should study Religion

Episode description

At its core, religion is a fundamental aspect of human experience. From the cave paintings of our ancestors to the soaring cathedrals of Europe, from the ancient Vedas to the modern-day mosques, religion has consistently manifested itself across cultures and time periods. It is woven into the very fabric of human society, shaping art, literature, law, and social structures in ways that are both profound and pervasive.

Think for a moment about the art that moves you, the literature that challenges you, the laws that govern you, and the social norms that shape your daily interactions. In almost every instance, you will find that religion, either explicitly or implicitly, has played a significant role. The myths and legends that have captured our imaginations, the ethical principles that guide our actions, the rituals and ceremonies that mark life’s major milestones—all bear the indelible imprint of religious thought and practice.
